VLADIMIR KAZIMIROV CALLS TO EXPEDITE REPATRIATION OF AZERI POWs

On knowing about the three Azeri soldiers, who are presently kept in Nagorno Karabakh, former OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair, Ambassador Vladimir Kazimirov made a request to expedite their repatriation with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Echo Azeri newspaper writes. In his words, he was told that Ruslan Bakirov, Hikmet Tagiyev and Hayal Abdullayev are still under examination. It also turned out that besides the norms of the international convention the conflicting parties had agreed on the soonest repatriation of the POWs. “The incidents at the contacts line resulted in causalities. Moreover, the Azeri party did not bring the detainment of several Armenians (Aristokes Martirosian, Gevorg Khlghatian and Eghia Humanian) to the notion of the ICRC and kept them for about 2 months”, Kazimirov noted. He expressed hope that the conflicting parties will abide by the commonly accepted international norms. It is also known that OCSE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Pupel requested for sooner repatriation of the Azeri soldiers. The exact date the repatriation will in many respects depend of ICRC possibilities.
