POPE AND CHAIRMAN OF UNION OF ARMENIANS OF RUSSIA DISCUSSED MAINTAINING PEACE IN SOUTH CAUCASUS

The other day Pope John Paul II and chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamian discussed issues of maintaining and strengthening peace in the South Caucasus. As reported by ITAR-TASS agency, in the course of the audience in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican the Supreme Pontiff expressed his special attitude towards the Armenian people, which has been abiding by Christianity for more than 1700 years. The Roman Catholic Church head also conveyed best regards to Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II.
