ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE SHOULD BE RAISED AT TALKS OVER TURKEY ACCESSION TO EU

French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said this week that the heads of the Foreign Ministries of the EU states in Luxembourg will demand that Turkey acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, reported RFE/RL. In Mr. Barnier’s words, the issue will be raised during the talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul. Besides the question of recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Ankara should be raised in the course of the negotiations over accession of Turkey to the EU. «Turkey should respond this demand,» Michel Barnier assured, adding that the EU main principle is reconciliation. «Germany and France were able to do it, Turkey has to act the same way,» the French FM said.
