The other day Armenian ambassador to US Arman Kirakosian visited the city of Fresno to participate in a measure devoted to the 25-th anniversary of the opening of the Armenian Studies department at California State University. The ceremony was opened by university president John Welty. In his speech at the jubilee A.Kirakosian presented the domestic and economic situation in Armenia, the main directions of the country’s foreign policy and the geo-political situation in the South Caucasus, including the Nagorno Karabakh settlement. Noting certain economic growth in Armenia, the ambassador called representatives of the Armenian community of America to be more active in expanding the trade, economic and investment ties between Armenia and the US. The same day ambassador Kirakosian visited the old Armenian residential area of Fresno, as well as the grave of famous Armenian writer William Saroyan at “Ararat” Armenian cemetery. Let us note that over 50 thousand Armenians live in Fresno at present.
