Tbilisi to host conference on national minorities

“Ethnic Diversity for Cohesive Development” conference organized by the Multinational Georgia public movement will be held in Tbilisi on Feb 26, 2013.

The event will take place in the framework of “Embrace Diversity – Respect for All” project supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands to Georgia.

The primary objective of the conference is to inform about the results of the research carried out within the framework of the project the goal of which is to analyze the problems, needs and challenges ethnic minorities are facing in the country.

The research has been conducted with the previously selected three focus groups with the participation of ethnic Armenian, Azerbaijani and other minority communities’ representatives.

The conference will host the experts dealing with ethnic minorities’ issues, 8 ministers, heads of 3 parliamentary committees, 7 parliamentarians, Ombudsman as well as representatives of foreign missions in Georgia and international organizations.

Participants of the conference will provide their vision and deliberate over the problems ethnic minorities are facing in the country, as well as over the possible ways for their solution, and primary policy directions. Important space will be devoted for the discussion over the challenges in the field of civil integration.
