Armenian Drivers Not to Pay Custom Duties at Entering Georgia

November 15 the Georgian parliamentary commission for foreign relations passed a bill on introducing addenda in the Agreement on Transport Service concluded by Armenia and Georgia in 1997. The addenda call for release the vehicles moving from Armenia to Georgia and vice versa from custom duties with an exception of cases when the carriers use chargeable roads, tunnels or substructures or if their load exceeds the fixed norm. The Armenian parliament has not adopted these addenda yet, since according to the Agreement the Georgian party should be the first to ratify them. So far the drivers crossing the Georgian border had to pay 38 laris (about $20), reported RFE/RL.
