Scholar: Genocide recognition to counter Turkey’s imperial intentions

Professor of Political Science, advisor of the Hungarian Socialist Party, Laszlo Kemeny joins the vast number of international organizations in recognizing the Genocide as a well-documented historical fact.

“Recognition of the Armenian Genocide will help express protest against any imperial intentions. The Genocide is not only the Armenians’ pain, it’s the pain of the whole humanity,” he said.

Dwelling on the recent Turkish media reports, the expert said, “Milliyet daily has recently published a map of “New Turkey,” going far beyond the actual territory of the state. The article urges creation of a new strong state similar to Ottoman Empire. It also suggests going back to “good old times” when Turks “fought against the Christians of Minor Asia.” It’s easy to guess that the article meant constant humiliation and extermination of Greeks, Armenians and other Christian nations of the Empire.”

In conclusion, the expert slammed the attempts of politicians and political analysts to falsify historic events.
