Europarliament Observers to Follow Pamuk Trial

Turkey will have to pass an «examination» on December 16 from the point of view of compliance to EU human rights standards: the trial on Orhan Pamuk’s case will be held in Istanbul. The Turkish writer is accused of «humiliation of the Turkish People and the Turkish Republic.» Thereupon the Europarliament will send a group of 5 persons that will have to check Turkey’s compliance with European human rights standards, reported Turkish Daily News.
