Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov intends to raise the issues referring to Azerbaijan-OSCE cooperation for the development of democratic institutes as well as the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement at the sitting of the OSCE Council of Ministers in Ljubljana on Monday. Besides, the Azerbaijani FM will hold bilateral meetings with Romanian Foreign Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, Cypriot FM George Iacovou and Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut and Director of OSCE Bureau on Democratic Institute and Human Rights Christian Strohal and Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns, reported Interfax.
To remind, a meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs with Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Vartan Oskanian and Elmar Mammadyarov was held in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana on December 4. The Minsk Group mediators pin their hopes on the post-election situation in both countries. “In 2006, in the countries involved in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict there will be no major political events and elections, and we should use it,” said U.S. Co-Chair Steven Mann. He also added that “the negotiation process has become more profound and has come to a higher level.” In January 2006, another meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents is expected.
