RUSSIAN COMPANIES INTERESTED IN ACQUIRING “NAIRIT-1” CHEMICAL PLANT

Some Russian companies are interested in acquiring the chemical giant of Armenia – “Nairit-1” plant. Minister of trade and economic development of Armenia Karen Chshmaritian told “Arminfo” agency. In his words, it was stated during Armenian president Robert Kocharian’s recent visit to Moscow. The minister refused to report which companies the matter concerned, considering speaking about it premature. Let us note that the whole of the package of shares of “Nairit-1,” which is the only producer of chloroprene caoutchouc in the CIS, passed into the ownership of “Ransat” British company in the middle of 2002. The minister noted that “Ransat” has not fulfilled the contract obligations on investment and debt clearing, which aroused Armenian government’s dissatisfaction.
