2006 is a “window” on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement and provides a golden opportunity for its resolution, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rino Harnish stated at a meeting with the students of Khazar university. The diplomat said the U.S. is for the peaceful and lasting settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict via a fair dialogue. “We are interested in the conflict settlement and bend effort within the OSCE Minsk Group,” Mr. Harnish said noting that the Co-Chairs will arrive in Baku in mid December.
When commenting on the possibility of resumption of hostilities the Ambassador said, “A new war can lead to destabilization in the whole South Caucasus. At the same time the resumption of hostilities will kill Azerbaijan’s hopes for the economic development of the country.”
