The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are working at the draft document on the main principles of the Nagorno Karabakh, Russian Co-Chairs Yuri Merzlyakov informed. “The draft is a 2-page document presenting the main settlement principles and the parties should agree with it,” he said. In his words, after the finite approval of the principles the expert delegations of both parties will meet to compile the fundamental document. Yuri Merzlyakov supposes signing of any draft without agreeing on the settlement principles makes no sense. “Former Co-Chairs made proposals in dozens of pages. But everything went to rack and ruin. Now we should reach an agreement and then proceed to executing records,” Merzlyakov noted.
When asked whether the document might be ready before the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents Yuri Merzlyakov said, “We are dealing with the issue but I cannot say anything for certain yet.” When commenting on the possible reduction of discrepancies available during the recent visit of the mediators to the region the Russian diplomat noted, “There is some rapprochement, however there are some items inadmissible for the parties. On one hand it eases the task, but I cannot say the agreement has been outlined,” reported Trend news agency.
