Armenia – Open Museum Artistic Contest Held in Georgiyevsk

Children’s artistic contest Armenia – Open Museum marking the 1600th anniversary of Armenian script was held in Georgiyevsk town (Stavropol region). As reported by the Yerkramas newspaper of Armenians of Russia, 18 out of 48 contest participants of various nationalities were awarded. The grand prix was awarded to young artist, grandson of hereditary Cossack Yuri Pshunetov, who depicted Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian script. Honorary Artist of USSR Ivan Kirilov and Honored Cultural Worker of Russia Yuri Avetisyan awarded the children. It should be noted that there were more winners among Russian children than among Armenians.

Deputy head of the city administration Alexandra Koryabina, aide of the administration head Viktor Zaytsev and Deputy Chair of the City Council of Deputies and United Russia Georgiyevsk branch Political Council Secretary Vladimir Pobedinsky, as well as leaders of ethnic communities of the town – Korean, Greek and Cossack – were also present at the event. In Alexandra Koryabina’s words, past year the Armenian community national and cultural organizations were the most active among those available on the number of events held.
