Analysts of authoritative British company Jane’s Information Group (JIG) state that Azerbaijan has finally approved of the idea of holding a referendum in Nagorno Karabakh (NK) to determine the final status of the region and Armenia is inclined to agreeing with the stepwise option of settlement, which implies withdrawal of troops situated around NK. According to JIG data, until lately Baku was against the idea of holding a referendum in NK, proposed by international mediators.
According to JIG, international peacekeepers are to be deployed in the Karabakh conflict zone to secure civil population. Analysts underscore that the peace accord will demand much concession and the two governments will have to overcome not only their own doubts, but also tune the public opinion so as it «focuses on acquisitions and not losses,» reported Mediamax.
