ASSUMPTIONS THAT THERE WERE ARMENIAN SETTLEMENTS IN LOCALITIES NEAR MOSCOW IN XII CENTURY CONFIRMED

A unique exhibit is kept in a historical museum in Russian Ryazan city. It is a copper dish with Armenian inscriptions dating back to XII-XIII centuries. One of the inscriptions on it says: “Kirakos vordi Abeli,” which means “Kirakos, son of Abel.” As museum senior curator T.Prosukova told “De Facto” agency, for the time being the find was the only material proof of Armenian presence in the regions near Moscow in XII-XIII centuries. Scientists suppose that a permanent Armenian settlement or block could exist in Old Ryazan at the time. The fact that an Armenian squadron, and as it is known not a hired one, fought in the ranks of the Russian army in Kulikov battle is an indirect proof of this.
