A number of organizations of Turk-Meskhetians residing in Western Georgia have conducted a sociological survey among their compatriots on their settling down in Samtskhe-Javakhetia region of Georgia. As reported by “A-Info” agency, among the 70 families included in the research 63 wished to resettle. The survey on the issue of whom Turk-Meskhetians may have conflicts with is also notable. 41 families suppose that conflicts may arise with local Armenians, 16 – with Adzharians, 5 – with Georgians. Answering the question about the causes of possible conflicts, 26 Meskhetian families said conflicts would be over land, 17 families expected the conflicts to be of religious nature and 8 of ethnic. Meskhetians intend to resettle in 6 villages in Akhaltsikh region and 13 in Adigen region. Let us note that 5 of these settlements do not exist at present and Georgians live in the remainder.
