Azerbaijan Beyond Millennium Challenge Account

Unlike Georgia and Armenia, Azerbaijan was not included in the Millennium Challenge Account, the new strategic initiative of the US foreign assistance. According to the official document, this happened due to variance with the government standards, which was one of the 4 criteria set for the countries. The amount of the aid makes several hundreds of millions of dollars for each country, Times writes. To note, Azerbaijan received $37 million for the development of democracy and economy in 2005 while the sum allotted to Armenia made $70 million.
