REPRESENTATIVE JAMES MCDERMOTT JOINS CONGRESSIONAL ARMENIAN CAUCUS

The other day Washington State Democrat James McDermott (D-WA) expressed willingness to join the Congressional Armenian Caucus. As reported by the Armenian National Committee of America, he made the decision having viewed a special ANCA screening of “Ararat” film of Atom Egoyan at last year-end, narrating about the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. Congressman McDermott has been a consistent supporter of Congressional recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Last year, Rep. McDermott co-signed a letter to President Bush urging him to properly characterize the Armenian massacre as “genocide.” “It’s hard for me to believe that [this recognition has] never happened. It should have happened a long time ago and it should happen now,” – McDermott noted. Let us note that the Congressman became the 126-th member of the Caucus.
