OSCE MG Activities Unsatisfactory, Baku Says

The Azeri Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) is going to undertake “serious measures” in view of the recent statements referring to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, KLO chairman Akif Naghi stated. He noted that the “situation created in the process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement does not meet Azerbaijan’s interests”, that is why the KLO holds it advisable to undertake serious measures in this view. In his words, there is a real threat to lose Karabakh. “We have many times made statements and have made precise moves. But the threat is not eliminated. The government should take serious steps to improve the situation but unfortunately we do not see it,” he said.

According to Naghi, Azerbaijan’s positions are gradually weakening. “The situation has reached a verge. Rapid measure is essential otherwise the situation may deteriorate,” he said. In his opinion, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will be put in operation this year. “International organizations are major states are interested in complete security of the pipeline and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled by all means. They do not care whether the problem will be solved fairly or not. Proceeding form the reality, the international community is interested in Baku’s concessions but Armenia’s. The Azeri people cannot resign to it and appropriate actions should be held, ” Akif Naghi said.

He stated that the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group cannot be rated as satisfactory since no single international organization has not undertaken any concrete steps to resolve the problem. “On the contrary, these organizations supported the Armenian party and claimed concessions not from Armenia but from Azerbaijan.” Akif Naghi noted that several proposals including collection of signatures will be discussed at the round table. He said they have worked out an action plan for the near future. The plan provides for conduction of talks at various levels and organization of events. “The activities of the OSCE Minsk Group should be stopped since the Co-Chairs hold negotiations doomed to failure. We cannot overlook it. We are ready to everything possible and impossible for the liberation of Karabakh. There is no Azerbaijan without Karabakh,” he said, the 525th newspaper reported.
