February 6 the interparliamentary conference held in “3+3” format is starting in Tbilisi. Representatives of legislative bodies of the Baltic and Transcaucasian states will discuss the issues referring to reforms and cooperation. The purpose of the conference, which will last till February 9, is to exchange experience in conducting democratic reforms in defense and security fields. Possibilities of raising the efficiency of the Georgian parliament, harmonization of the legislative and executive powers, democratic control over the armed forces and civic management will be discussed. Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Armenian and Azeri delegations as well as representatives of German Marshall Foundation, NATO, U.S. Navy and German Bundestag arrived in Tbilisi for the participation in the conference. Representatives of the diplomatic representation offices accredited in Georgia will also attend the conference. Georgian parliament speaker Nino Burjanadze is expected to deliver a speech. Open discussions and working meeting are as well scheduled.
