We do not expect any concrete solutions or new plans from the meeting of the personal representatives of the Armenian and Azeri presidents on Nagorno Karabakh being held in Strasbourg. Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian told journalists yesterday. In his words, the meeting is of deliberative nature. The recurrent hearings of the parties of the conflict at the Council of Europe, as the minister noted, are a new mechanism to maintain peace in the region and they contribute to regional cooperation. “In such a way, CE member Armenia and Azerbaijan assume additional obligations, which prevent them from recommencing hostilities,” – V.Oskanian noted. The minister reminded that the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is among the commitments of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe.
