Grouping in Armenia Ensures Alertness of CIS Air Defense Forces

Withdrawal of Georgia from the CIS Council of FMs did not influence the efficiency of the Commonwealth air defense in the southern direction, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force Aytech Bizhev stated at a news conference in Moscow. «Georgia does not take part in events of the CIS united air defense forces since 1998. However, neither this, nor withdrawal of Georgia from the CIS Council of FMs influenced the efficiency of the Commonwealth air defense in the southern direction,» he remarked. In his words, group of air defense forces, situated in Armenia, ensures alertness of CIS air defense forces in the south. Bizhev also remarked that in case of force majeur, the Russian air defense central command post can get in touch with Georgian air defense command in seconds.
