U.S. Congressman Congratulated Karabakh People with Liberation Movement Anniversary

“I and my numerous counterparts congratulate the people of Karabakh with the recurrent anniversary of the Nagorno Karabakh liberation movement,” Congressman Michael R. McNulty (D – 21), New York stated when addressing the House of Representatives, reported NKR MFA press service. “February 20, 1988 Nagorno Karabakh formally appealed to the Soviet government with a request to join Armenia and correct the injustice committed by dictator Josef Stalin. This peaceful and legal request caused cruel reaction of the Soviet and Azerbaijani government. This reaction transformed into a full-scale military aggression against Nagorno Karabakh. The people of Nagorno Karabakh have asserted their right to freely live on the land of their ancestors. Presently Karabakh keeps on strengthening its state system with democratic government, efficient Armed Forces and independent foreign policy. I join the Karabakh people, who are celebrating freedom and democracy,” the U.S. Congressman stated.
