“Further consolidation and development of manifold mutually profitable relationships with Azerbaijan remain one of Russia’s foreign policy priorities. It fully meets our countries’ interests and is a weighty factor of stability and security in the Caucasus,” Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said. Touching upon Putin’s coming visit to Baku, Lavrov remarked, “the agreements reached on the top are the driving force of progressive development of the Russian-Azerbaijani relationships.” In his words, the agenda of Russian-Azerbaijani summits traditionally includes discussions over the state and perspectives of development of the bilateral relationships in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres. In Baku they will obviously have an exchange of opinions on settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Russia is very much concerned that the unsettled state of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict impedes comprehensive cooperation in the South Caucasus. As a Minsk Group co-chair country and on the bilateral basis Russia is ready to contribute its share in the search for acceptable outcomes,” Lavrov remarked, reported Trend agency.
