Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in Baku «Russia is actually very interested in settlement of all conflicts in the post-soviet space. If anyone states the opposite, he is either mistaken or wants to mislead our peoples.» In his words, «If there was no conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, the commodity turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan would have reached $5 billion instead of $1 billion. However, we absolutely rule out putting pressure upon any of the negotiating parties. We can merely be mediators and guarantors of agreements made,» he emphasized.
The Russian leader is sure that in spite the situation is difficult, there are still chances to solve the issue. «We will in every way promote settlement of the conflict. This is all I can say. Thus, I consider speaking about details premature,» Putin said, reported the Echo newspaper.
