The Armenian diaspora of Russia can play an important role in developing bilateral relations. Armenian president Robert Kocharian stated in Moscow addressing Diplomatic Academy of the Russian foreign ministry. In his words, the largest Armenian diaspora resides in Russia and “its entry into the process of the Russian-Armenian relations would let speed up these relations.” In Robert Kocharian’s opinion, the bonds of Russian Armenians with their historical fatherland are not only emotional, but are also based on economic interests in Armenia.
