Participation of the Azeri armed forces in any military exercise held on Armenian territory is impossible, acting head of the Azeri MOD press office Ilgar Verdiyev stated. To note, the other day RA Deputy Defense Minister Artur Aghabekyan said that Rescuer 2006 exercise will be held in June within Partnership for Peace NATO program with participation of representatives of some 20 countries. Armenia always encouraged the cooperation between the neighbor states on the Partnership for Peace principle and is ready to receive the representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan,” he noted.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry considers the visit to Armenia is impossible. Verdiyev said Armenia’s participation in the Partnership for Peace NATO program is a mere formality and only 1 event is held in Armenia within the program framework. In his words, any formal invitation in military exersice in Armenia will be rejected by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
