US CONGRESSMAN CALLED BAKU TO CONDEMN MILITARIST RHETORIC OF AZERI MEDIA

Co-chair of the US Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone (D-NJ) has called Azeri president Heydar Aliyev to condemn the militant hysteria of Azeri mass media directed against Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. In his words, within the last few months Azeri media have been flooded by militarist “propaganda.” In his letter to the Azeri president, Frank Pallone especially noted the reports of individual mass media on military propagandistic campaign being held by Heydar Aliyev and his team to divert public attention from domestic political situation in the republic. “The calls to war including even such horrible suggestions as creation of a kamikaze battalion of orphan children are nothing else but an attempt to provoke hatred and extremism, which have led to violence and barbarity towards Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh,” – the message says. In Pallone’s words, the resumption of hostilities against Nagorno Karabakh can be rated as aggression against a democratic country. Contrary to the aggressive stand taken by Azerbaijan, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic population has taken a big step on the way of creating a free society, the Congressman noted.
