BROAD-BASED SUPPORT FOR GENOCIDE RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY EXPANDS IN US

Over forty US religious, ethnic and human and civil rights groups supported the Congressional Genocide Resolution. As reported by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), the National Organization of Women, Union of Orthodox Rabbis, American Hellenic Institute, American Jewish League for Israel, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Christian Solidarity International have joined the campaign in particular. According to a statement by the ANCA leadership, they all share a commitment to ensuring that the lessons of past genocides – the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, and the genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, and elsewhere – are used to prevent future crimes against humanity. It should be reminded that the Genocide Resolution, mentioning the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey, currently awaits consideration by the House. The resolution is also submitted to the Senate, having the support of over 30 its members.
