The ministry of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan has denied reports that the country ambassador to Armenia Toyli Kurbanov willfully left his diplomatic office. As stated by Turkmen foreign minister Rashid Meredov, “Mediamax” agency reports, “in the reality Kurbanov put in an application to the president of Turkmenistan asking to relieve himself from the office.” “The ambassador’s request was conditioned by desire to continue education and engage in scientific activities. The Turkmen leader complied with his request,” – the statement says. It should be reminded that, as reported by a number of media, Turkmen ambassador to Armenia addressed the US authorities asking for political asylum and he is in that country at present together with his family.
