The message expresses gratitude for the “Nagorno Karabakh people remembering the fundamental stand Anatoly Sobchak took as a deputy and member of the USSR Supreme Council, as a professional jurist and democrat when asserting the right of every people to national independence and self-preservation.” In her words, the recognition of priority of national and human dignity urged Anatoly Sobchak in 1989 to offer his place in the USSR Supreme Council to representatives of Nagorno Karabakh. “I am happy that people in Karabakh and Armenia remember the good and do not forget that a Russian deputy has tried to maintain their interests,” – L.Narusova emphasized. She expressed hope for the human, cultural and political threads tying together Petersburg and Nagorno Karabakh not to break after Anatoly Sobchak’s death.
