IRANIAN DEPUTIES INTEND TO RAISE QUESTION OF “PROTECTION OF NAGORNO KARABAKH FROM SEIZURE BY AZERBAIJAN”

Deputies of Armenian origin and those having pro-Armenian orientation in the Iranian parliament have pledged their counterparts in Armenia to raise the question of supporting the Karabakh Armenians and even to appeal to the Iranian president and parliament chairman on the issue. As written by “525” Baku newspaper, “member of the South Azerbaijan parliamentary initiative group Aslan Halidi reported that the agreement was reached at the presentation of film “Chaos and the ghost,” devoted to the Armenian Genocide.” By the way, the newspaper reports, the costs of picture shot by Iranian film director of Armenian origin Merjan Ashrafzade were covered by the Supreme religious council of Iran and parliamentarians of Armenian nationality. The film, in A.Halidi’s words, was shown in “Ararat” cultural center in Teheran the other day and Iranian and Armenian parliamentarians were invited to it. After the show, the newspaper writes, they held a joint discussion of the picture, touching the Nagorno Karabakh problem. At that it was stated that Iran should assist not to admit “a new seizure of the territory by Azerbaijan.” The Iranian deputies stated their country should support Armenia in all issues concerning the Karabakh problem, as the interests of the two countries in the region agree. In the words of A.Halidi, there are six Armenian deputies in the Iranian parliament and they openly carry on propaganda in favor of Armenia in the Karabakh issue.
