US ARMENIANS PROTEST AGAINST ARMENIA’S INCLUSION IN LIST OF COUNTRIES, WHOSE CITIZENS HAVE TO REGISTER IN US MIGRATION SERVICE

Inclusion of Armenia in the list of countries, whose citizens have to register with the Immigration and Naturalization Service, caused a wave of protest among the Armenians of America. The list was initially created following the September 11th tragedy, and included the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. According to the Justice Department document, as reported by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), Armenia, along with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will be added to list today. ANCA has called the Armenians of America to address a protest to president George Bush and remind him of his own statement made this year that Armenia is one of those countries, which have offered assistance in struggle against international terrorism.
