Armenia spares no effort for Karabakh conflict peaceful resolution: FM

The settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is the main priority of Armenia’s foreign policy, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said in London.

“Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group (U.S., Russia, France) spare no effort for the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The Co-chairs have common stance on basic principles for the conflict settlement.

France, U.S. and Russia proposed the basic principles of the settlement based on the three principles of international law – the non-use of force, the right of peoples to self-determination, territorial integrity. Armenia expressed willingness to move forward, staying committed to these principles.

Baku’s continuous ceasefire violations on the border with Armenia and at the contact line with NKR once again prove that Azerbaijan continues to hinder the process of settlement of the conflict, endangering the upcoming meetings, initiated by the Co-chairs.

Formation of mechanisms to investigate incidents at the line of contact, the approval safety measures and other proposals by the Co-chairs may become an important instrument to prevent such incidents and to help create appropriate atmosphere for the talks. Baku, however, continues to reject proposals of staying committed to the ceasefire and building atmosphere of trust.

Hatred towards Armenians has for decades been Azerbaijan’s primary rhetoric, a policy, encouraged by the State,” Armenia Today quotes Nalbandian as saying.
