The summit of leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union member states made a decision on December 21 to carry out personnel reshuffles.
As a result, former Prime Minister of Armenia, the country's current ambassador to the United States Tigran Sargsyan was appointed the head of the Eurasian Economic Commission, thus replacing Viktor Khristenko.
The decision was made on October 16, at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Burabai.
“We have decided that Armenia will head the EEC board starting February 2016, with Tigran Sargsyan chairing,” Lukashenko said earlier. “Russian President, who has worked with Sargsyan in the past, has supported the decision. Known to be an experienced specialist, he will begin to work as the EEC head starting February 1.”
