INTER-GOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION ON STRUGGLE AGAINST ILLEGAL MIGRATION WITHIN CIS COUNTRIES BEING FORMED

Representatives of CIS ministries and departments, which had signed agreement on cooperation in struggle against illegal migration in 1998, have proposed to form a common commission for coordinating efforts in that direction. As the department of the CIS Executive Committee on security affairs informed “Arminfo” agency, at the recent conference in Minsk experts declared their intention to send a corresponding proposal to the Russian government and then to other Commonwealth countries for further consideration. The governments of the agreement participating states were also suggested to create a united database on illegal migrants on the basis of the international treaties concluded by CIS states. Moreover, the necessity to activate the process of working out and concluding bilateral accords on readmission between the Commonwealth countries, as well as multilateral international treaties was also mentioned at the conference. Representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine participated in the sitting.
