Karabakh official: Islamic terrorists fighting on Azeri side

The situation on the line of contact remains strained, with the Azeri side continuing ceasefire violations, the Nagorno Karabakh President’s spokesman said, according to Panorama.am.

According to David Babayan, on April 4, Azeris took several failed attempts to infiltrate Artsakh in some sections of the line of contact, suffering numerous losses.

As he further noted, Stepanakert has reasonable grounds to believe that numerous mercenaries are currently fighting on Azeri side in the Baku-unleashed hostilities.

“Though the facts are being verified, we have grounds to believe that Afghan mercenaries known as Grey Wolves as well as Islamic State fighters have been recruited by Azerbaijan,” Babayan noted, citing the brutal murder of 3 elderly people in the village of Talish as the mercenaries’ signature.

“Population of the Azeri border villages is fleeing in panic, with the mercenaries destroying, looting and putting the abandoned houses on fire to shift their actions on the Armenian side. There are also cases of murder and rape, which naturally antagonized the locals against the fighters. All of this proves we’re dealing with a terrorist, sadist state which doesn’t care even about its own people,” Babayan said.
