Besides being interested in the Iran-Turkey gas pipeline, political and economic circles of several states of Europe and the SIC are interested in the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline construction. Irani ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Farhad Koleyni has stated that in his interview with “Arminfo” agency. According to him, at present two ways of Armenia-Iran cooperation in gas sphere are considered. The first one is the construction of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline, the second is the transit of the Turkmen gas to Armenia through Iran’s territory. In the nearest future, Iran’s government plans to start effective cooperation with Russian “Gazprom” company in the sphere of “South Pars” gas field operation. The diplomat noted that the Irani side expects flexibility from the Russian gas monopolist regarding that issue. It should be noted that “Gazprom” company owns 45% of “Armrusgazprom” company. Speaking on the negative attitude of the USA to the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline construction, the diplomat noted that the US possibly would change its point of view after getting familiar with the situation in the region.
