BRITISH PARLIAMENTARIANS GROUP PLANS TO CALL ON BRITISH GOVERNMENT TO ASSIST NAGORNO-KARABAKH

On their return to London, British parliamentarians will make efforts in order that the Great Britain’s government renders its assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh in the humanitarian sphere. As “Mediamax” agency reports, the House of Lords vice-Speaker, Baroness Caroline Cox, the head of the parliamentarian delegation of the Great Britain to Nagorno-Karabakh stated that yesterday in Stepanakert. According to her, many people in the Great Britain did not have any idea about the Karabakh issue until recently, but at present the majority of her colleagues realize the heart of the issue. In his turn, Robert Vaiering, who is a British-Azeri parliamentarian group member touched on the problem of refugees in Azerbaijan and spoke for their return to their previous residence. A part of enormous sums spent by foreign companies for oil fields treatment might be directed to improvement of social conditions of those people, he noted. House member Jane Griffiths answering to the question on possible negative reaction of Baku to the visit of the British parliamentarians to Nagorno-Karabakh noted that the visits to Nagorno-Karabakh are necessary, as there is no clear idea about that issue in the world. “The government and the parliament of the Great Britain welcome such visits realizing the importance of having objective idea on the situation. If they in Baku interpret this visit in other way, then that is their problem”, she noted. According to the members of the British delegation, the report on the visit will be presented at both the Great Britain’s parliament and the Council of Europe.
