SUSTAINABLE TREND TOWARDS INCREASE OF COMMODITY TURNOVER BETWEEN ARMENIA AND BELARUS REGISTERED

A sustainable trend towards increase of commodity turnover growth has been registered in the development of commercial-economic cooperation between Belarus and Armenia. Prime Minister of Belarus Gennady Novitsky stated it at the meeting with Armenian minister of trade and economic development Karen Chshmaritian in Minsk. In his words, it increased 37% only within the eight months of 2002 in comparison with the same period of 2001. Belarus has exported to Armenia commodities, basically medicines, technical equipment, and building materials, for $1.3 million. At the same time Armenia occupies the last place among the CIS countries in goods turnover of Belarus today, and both parties are ready to overcome the situation, the Premier considers. Minister of trade and economic development of Armenia K.Chshmaritian, who co-chairs the Armenian-Belarus commission on trade and economic cooperation, confirmed Armenia’s interest in strengthening the mutually beneficial ties. In support of his words the minister told that there were many businessmen among the members of the delegation arrived in Minsk and they intended to cooperate with Belarus motor-car and tractor constructors, to strengthen contacts for developing air communication.
