46 members of the US congress have addressed a congratulation letter to the head of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Arkady Ghukasian due to his reelection as the President, “Mediamax” agency reports. “These elections definitely confirm the factual independence of NKR. Although the tradition of governing the republic by elected authorities has been operating for over 10 years, the international community still refuses to recognize the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, and unfortunately, has come to discrediting the elections long before holding them,” – the letter says. “Observers from Italy, Russia, France, Great Britain and USA, who were present at the elections, unanimously stated that they had been held in accordance with democratic norms. No violations of the voting procedure, cases of falsification and pressure on constituency were registered. Such efficient organization of the elections and adherence to democratic values are encouraging and can embody a good example for other republics of the former USSR,” – the congressmen noted. “We believe that exactly the elected authorities can put an end to the Karabakh conflict and continue the lucrative activities in peace talks under the aegis of the OSCE,” – the message says.
