EUROPEAN BANK NOT GOING TO KEEP ALOOF FROM PRIVATIZATION OF ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS OF ARMENIA

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is not doing to keep aloof from the process of privatization of electricity distribution networks of Armenia. Acting head of EBRD representation in Armenia Nikolay Gajiski stated it at the meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian. In Gajiski’s words, the bank’s position on the matter was earlier misreported by some mass media. He specified that EBRD did not possess enough information about electricity distribution networks strategic investor “Midland Resources” company. In case sufficient grounding is provided for the company competence, EBRD will probably resolve to buy a part of the shares of the Armenian electricity distribution networks. Let us remind that the Armenian government concluded a contract on selling 19,9% of the Armenian networks shares at $20 million to the European Bank in December 2002.
