SITUATION AT ARMENIAN-AZERI BORDER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH COMING ELECTION IN AZERBAIJAN, SERGE SARGSIAN SAID

The situation at the Armenian-Azeri border has nothing to do with the coming presidential election in Azerbaijan. Defense minister of Armenia Serge Sargsian told journalists when commenting on Baku statements about the periodical cases of breaking the cease-fire regime allegedly performed by the Armenian party “aiming at destabilizing the situation in Azerbaijan before the presidential election.” In his words, there have always been violations of the regime and they once again confirm statements by the Armenian party that the war is not over yet and the truce established is relative. “Azerbaijan has always tried to improve its front line, and we resist to it in compliance with the agreement that the positions are not subject to changes,” – S. Sargsian said. The minister also reported that within the past month one Armenian serviceman was killed on the border, noting he did not possess analogous data on the Azeri party. S. Sargsian emphasized that “there is no threat of changing the situation as such.” It should be reminded that July 8 the defense ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed issues of maintaining the cease-fire regime and prevention of incidents at the border.
