RUSSIAN MILITARY EQUIPMENT TRANSFERENCE FROM GEORGIA TO ARMENIA ACCOMPLISHED

Russia has finished the transference of the basic material means of the Russian troops in the Transcaucasus from Georgia to Armenia. In result the 102-th Russian military base dislocated in the Armenian city of Gyumri was replenished with a considerable amount of engineering equipment, ammunition as well as with materiel of several types. As according to its sources “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” Russian newspaper writes, several hundreds of railway carriages with ammunition for the tanks and artillery plants of 120 mm caliber as well as mines, bridge layers, plants for mine clearing, water filtration, air ventilation and camouflage means, etc were delivered to Armenia. All this, the newspaper notes, is necessary for the successful conduction of operations, especially in the Transcaucasian mountains where the possibility of maneuver is limited. At the same time, first deputy to the chief of the Russian Armed Forces general staff colonel-general Yuri Baluyevski refuted the reports, which appeared in some sources about dislocation of military units to Armenia. “Increase in the strength of the Russian troops in Armenia is not planned”, – he said. However the representative did not say all concerning this matter, the newspaper writes. The thing is that the build-up of the material resources in Armenia allows in case of emergency to transfer the essential military contingent within a short period of time. It is supposed that it will be the mobile forces from the created in the territory of Russia professional divisions of landing parties.
