AMERICAN CONGRESSMEN DEMAND RAISING TURKEY’S ECONOMIC BLOCKADE AGAINST ARMENIA

The US Congress House of Representatives demands the raise of the economic blockade against Armenia from Turkey: to form the most economic favorable zone between Turkey and Israel. According to the same source, the US State Department councilor Richard Armitage has sent a letter to the chairman of the corresponding commission of the House of Representatives William Thomas that states the US government puts pressure on Turkey “aiming at reestablishing the economic, political and cultural relations with Armenia”. The letter states that a report on the economic importance of opening the Armenian-Turkish border that will be submitted for the Congress’s consideration in March 2003 is being prepared at the US Stated Department.
