Our strength is unity and if Caucasian peoples manage to live in peace and chime, this region might become quite attractive. Georgian parliament Speaker Nino Burjanadze stated that at the meeting with her Armenian counterpart Armen Khachatrian visiting Tbilisi these days. According to her, there are issues that are to be settled without conniving them. There are problems in that as well as in many other regions of Georgia that are to be settled. But the main thing is not to allow a “third part” to break the normal Armenian-Georgian relations, she noted, speaking on the situation in Georgian Samtskhe-Javakheita region populated mainly by Armenians. Speaking on the necessity of withdrawal of the Russian military base from the Georgian Akhalkalaki region, the Georgian Speaker noted that process would be conducted in step-by-step way, taking into consideration the issues regarding employment and further security of the Armenian population, residing near the Georgian-Turkish border. According to Burjanadze, there is a solid legal base between the two states: 76 bilateral agreements are signed, but the ratification of the Agreement on friendship and cooperation should be sped up.
