A EUROPARLIAMENT DEPUTY ORGANIZED COLLECTION OF SIGNATURES FOR ARMENIA, GEORGIA, AZERBAIJAN’S JOINING EUROPEAN UNION

European parliament deputy Olivie Dupui has made a statement calling on the European Union to develop a united strategy towards Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia on their inclusion in the list of the European Union candidate-states. The Extra-National Fundamentalist party headed by Dupui has started collecting signatures for the inclusion of a number of East European states in the list of EU candidates. According to the action organizers, the document should be signed by representatives of the legislature of the pretender-states. As the Azeri press states, the statement, signed by Georgian, Armenian, Albanian and Croatian parliamentarians, was not signed by any Azeri representative. The Azeri side explains that fact with that the Azeri deputies were not informed. As vice-chairman of the parliamentary commission on relations with the EU Anar Mahmedkhanov stated “The EU membership is one of the key foreign policy aims of Azerbaijan, but no one has addressed us with such a question”.
