The presence of the Armenian factor in ethnic conflicts in Russia does not exceed 3%. Armenian ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatian told “Arminfo” agency about it. In his words, the causes of these conflicts cannot be brought only to conditions of life. “The problem of ethnic dissension is present in Russia, but it concerns not only Armenians. It is first of all directed against Russia itself, not against any other country,” – the ambassador emphasized. He also noted that it was necessary to exercise caution regarding skinheads and do everything to prevent such cases. At the same time the problem of illegal migration remains a fundamental one, the ambassador noted. Armen Smbatian considers that one of the ways to solve it is the document being prepared, which will help Armenian citizens in getting residence permit in a simplified mode. In Smbatian’s words, the document provides for a right to get a residence permit for three spans – 1, 3 and 5 years. According to the document, the status of the migrants from Armenia will not differ from that of full citizens of Russia, except for the right to vote and be elected. Getting Russian citizenship in the future will depend on the person’s own will.
