RUSSIAN-GEORGIAN RELATIONS ISSUE DISCUSSED IN YEREVAN

The issue of the Georgian-Russian relations as well as the issues regarding the Armenia’s reaction to the possible development of the events regarding the Pankisi gorge were considered at the consultations of the RA president
Robert Kocharian the other day. As “Arka” agency reports, RA foreign minister Vardan Oskanian stated that yesterday speaking at the Armenian parliament meeting. At that he expressed hope that within the framework the of states summit in Kishinev 6-7 October CIS, Russian and Georgian presidents Vladimir Putin and Eduard Shevardnadze “would be able to discuss the issues and to ease the tension”. “We hope the parties will be able to find a peaceful solution to the problem”, he noted. The minister again expressed readiness of Armenia to act as a mediator in the normalization of the relations between Russia and Georgia. If the tension between Russia and Georgia results in military actions then Armenia will suffer, the Armenian foreign minister noted.
