The USA does not thrust any variants of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. It only insists on the conflict settlement in the nearest future. US State Department high ranker has stated that in his interview with Armenian journalists. Washington welcomes any decision made by Armenia and Azerbaijan’s presidents suiting all the parties to the conflict, he noted. According to the diplomat, in 2001, the parties were close to the conflict settlement as never before but then it failed. “We speak for the ability to demonstrate political will”, he noted. Speaking on the possible terms of the conflict settlement, the State Department representative stated that in all probability the end of the 2003 elections in the South Caucasian states should be waited. According to him, the USA and the OSCE will assist in every way in conducting fair elections in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in order for “people to be really heard”.
